Tanzania and Kilimanjaro

The main purpose of the visit was to climb Kilimanjaro although, in addition, I took in a Safari. At 19,340 ft Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa and the highest mountain in the world which is not part of a range. The year I visited was an El Nino year resulting in high levels of rainfall which in turn produced some interesting ice fields on the summit. I was pleased to reach Uhuru, the highest point.
