Checkpoint Charlie

The notorious checkpoint which allowed westerners into East Berlin. In 1976 I wasn’t allowed to photograph the border so it would have been more than my life was worth to photograph it then. All that remains now is the American guard hut with so called actors posing for photographs in American army uniforms, very tacky. The image on the right is how the checkpoint looked during the Cold War, the American hut is in the centre at the top of the picture.
